Bomber Soccer Downs Sycamore on the Road

St. Xavier soccer took to the road this weekend as they traveled to Sycamore for a non-conference matchup.

Thanks to first half goals from seniors Zane Arar and Trey Wynn, the Bombers escaped the match unscathed and left with a 2-0 victory.

Wynn took a drop off from fellow senior Reece Heisel just 15 minutes into the match for an easy goal and a 1-0 lead. Shortly before halftime, at the 30th minute, Arar was able to coral a long pass on a breakaway to squeak what would be the game's final goal and give the Bombers the 2-0 lead.

Wynn's goal was his fifth on the year, good for a tie for 2nd in the GCL. Arar was able to notch his first goal on the season. Senior goalkeeper Luke Eckert put out another shutout, bringing his total to a GCL-leading 7 shutouts.

The Bombers are back in action on Tuesday, October 4th when they welcome the Moeller Crusaders to RDI Stadium in a GCL showdown. Just a half game separates the two schools in the GCL standings, providing an extra layer of drama to the already storied rivalry. The JV kick things off at 5:00 pm and Varsity follows at 7:00 pm.
