Keating Natatorium Dedication – Alumni Meet

A DAY TO REMEMBER

On Sunday, December 26, family, friends, supporters, athletes, coaches, administrators, alums and fans gathered for one of the most emotion packed events in the history of Keating Natatorium. President Tim Reilly and his colleagues, who spearheaded the renovation of Keating Natatorium, were on hand to insure a very meaningful and appropriate dedication and blessing of Keating Natatorium.

Many members of the Keating family were present, reflecting over half a century of commitment to St. Xavier Swimming and Diving. Blessings were bestowed on the Natatorium itself, the new Billy Keating, Jr. Atrium, Coach Jim Brower Foyer, Breissinger Family Grandstands and Patricia Hudepohl Balcony, as well as the 2021-22 team. Special acknowledgement of Nancy Nenninger Keating, who passed away Christmas Eve, was an integral part of the overall message delivered by Fr. Terry Baum, SJ.

Following the formal ceremony, it was time for racing at the annual Alumni meet. The Long Blue Lane, past and present, was ready to throw it down. Sprint events were featured keeping enthusiasm up and times down. "Grudge" races were also a part of the festivities as alums faced off against current swimmers. Coaches Dave Albert, Scott Holcomb and Zach Vogelpohl got in on the action and acquitted themselves well. It was not unusual to see lifetime bests achieved, as bragging rights were at stake.

A reception for all followed hosted by current team parents. Keating Dedication 2021

"Keating Natatorium is more than a pool. It has become home to many athletes and their families over the past five decades," commented coach Eric Breissinger.

"We have been so blessed to have the Keatings and their friends in our lives. The dedication reaffirmed our journey together," offered coach Tom Keefe.

"Truly amazing what has been accomplished beginning in 1969. Congratulations to all who played a role in the renovation. I am extremely grateful and humbled to have my name associated with Keating Natatorium," reflected coach Jim Brower.
