Late Header Seals Bomber Victory

A matchup between two of the top soccer programs in the city came to Ballaban Field Saturday night as the Mason Comets came to campus.

The matchup lived up to the hype as the two squads remained scoreless with under six minutes to play in the match. St. Xavier broke the deadlock after Reece Heisel corralled a Bomber free kick, put the ball into play in the box and found Gio Minghetti who beat the goalie with a header in the back of the net.

The goal was Minghetti's third on the year and Heisel's fourth assist on the season. The shutout was goalie Luke Eckert's fourth shutout on the season, good for first in the GCL.

The Bombers improve to 5-1-5 on the season and remain in a tie for first atop the GCL South with Moeller. They return to GCL play on Tuesday, September 28th when they welcome the LaSalle Lancers to Ballaban Field. Tickets are on sale here or on our website at www.stxsports.net.
