Seniors Push Bomber Soccer into District Final

The St. Xavier Bombers met the Kings Knights for the right to play for a district championship.

Thanks to two first half goals by senior Tanner Creech, the Bombers were able to cruise to a 5-1 victory on a chilly Tuesday night at Hamilton High School's Virgil Schwarm Stadium.

Creech jump started the scoring just 8 minutes into the match. Senior PJ Bower got into his bag of tricks just two minutes later by pick-pocketing the Kings goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead just 10 minutes into the match.

The Knights finally got on board with eight minutes left, only to have Creech head in his second goal of the half with just four minutes remaining to make the score 3-1.

The Bombers got a quick start out of the locker room as another senior, Rylan Earl, scored just six minutes into the 2^nd half. Kings would provide an own goal with 13 minutes remaining in the match, bringing the final score to 5-1.

With an experienced group this season, it was the Bomber seniors who pushed the states 5^th ranked team into a district final. Creech scored his two goals, Bower and Earl each scored a goal with Earl adding an assist. Fellow seniors Gio Minghetti, Brady Manahan, and Carter Posey (2) all chipped in assists on the night as well.

The win improves St. Xavier's record to 11-2-5 on the season as they march ahead in the OHSAA playoffs. They will face off with a talented Beavercreek team who sits at 13^th in the final Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association poll. The match is slated for 7:00 pm at Lakota West High School.
